My First Day

Posted: July 2, 2007 in Educational Technology

My first day as an official educational technology specialist has been good.  Most of my time has been spent meeting new people and getting to know the central office building.  Not a particularly hectic day, but one that I will remember with fondness when things get very busy in the coming days and weeks.  It is good to be here, and I hope to make a positive contribution to the educational process of the young people in this area.  I’m sure I will miss an everyday schedule in the classroom, but I know I can reach more lives in this new position.

An interesting video clip a new colleague shared with me today concerns 3D printing.  For those not familiar you can see and example here:  ZPrinter.  Technology is amazing!!!

The high school has a 3d printer. It’s pretty cool, but very slow. It’s “ink” cartridges are proprietary weed eater string spindles.

What course(s) are they using this printer in? I’m sure it is an expensive unit to purchase and supply! Also, what kind is it?
